What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points that have been empirically proven effective in the treatment of specific disorders. These points have been mapped by the Chinese over a period of 2,000+ years. Recently their location has been confirmed by electromagnetic research.
What problems can be treated by Acupuncture?
The World Health Organization has publicly anounced that acupuncture is suitable for treating the following:
Ear, Nose and Throat disorders, Respiatory disorders, Gastrointestinal disorders, Gento-Urinary and Reproductive disorders, Mental and Emotional disorders, Dermatological disorders and many types of pain management.
Acupuncture may also be helpful for withdrawal from addictions such as sugar, coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. It may also be used in stress reduction, post surgical recovery, chronic fatigue, the signs of aging and decreased immunity.
It is exciting to know that acupuncture can be used as both a primary and secondary approach to so many disorders! Of course, commonsense dictates that you check with your primary healthcare provider and a qualified acupuncturist prior to making changes in your healthcare program.
